The Vinyl Junkies to play tribes after party at ginglik 27th april

We are excited to announce that we will be playing Tribes‘ after party at the awesome Ginglik on the 27th April. After Tribes’ headline show at Shepherds Bush they’ll be playing a DJ set to continue the night. This is a seriously cool venue and a big one for us-check out the website http://www.ginglik.co.uk/.
Brixton Jamm and updates

We’ve been so busy the past couple of weeks- so we thought we’d compile everything into one post. The build up and preparation to the 31st March nearly gave Matt an aneurysm, something the rest of the band took lightly. Organising coaches is now a Vinyl Junkie speciality, and although people smashing their heads on bonnets, drinking unbelievable amounts and needing the toilet within five minutes of leaving- we’ll keep doing it. We played to a full house at Brixton Jamm, we loved it and rocked it. Also, briefly speaking with Glen Matlock about his car getting washed was surreal- but altogether an awesome experience. Thanks to everyone who came, Jamm and Absent Kelly for organising the night.

“The Vinyl Junkies deliver an energetic performance with strong guitar hooks and strong melodies- a young and fresh rock band, definitely worth a listen!” Absent Kelly
Gigging again in London, we played New Cross the Wednesday after. Not quite the Jamm feel, but not hard when there’s only mentalists watching you- but we’ll be back. Last Saturday was a change of mood as we played The Goat, Codicote, one of our regular pub circuit gigs. Thanks Brenda, we had a great night! Check the next post for some exciting news.
‘Broken Britain never sounded so good’
We owe thanks to all of you who supported us with the Emerging Icons competition through Facebook. Run weekly, it’s chance for unsigned bands (that’s us) to get a feature on Absolute Radio.
Our track ‘Gangs’, got through to the final five on the Sunday Night Music Club on Absolute Radio landing a review from Pete Donaldson:
“An alloy of Thin Lizzy-esque riffage and Van Halen duelling. Broken Britain never sounded so good”.
So what’s in store for 2012…?
2012 looks to be a
n exciting year for the band as they get ready to play venues throughout London. The bands gigs have been described as having ‘aggression, humour, musical competence and foot-tap-ability’ almost as if you have been parachuted into an early Who gig. With a combination of hard work and raving reviews from the local circuit, the band are set to be playing some big venues (yet to be confirmed) in 2012.
Having played on the BBC Introducing stage at the “Rhythms of the World” festival in 2010 and numerous radio spots on BBC-Music-Introducing and BBC Three Counties Radio , the boys are certainly excited about the new year and what it has to bring.
BBC-Music-Introducing – “If you love your Blues bands you will enjoy Vinyl Junkies, the crowd went crazy for this four piece. Hailing from the Stevenage and Hitchin area, they are sure to go down a treat when they play on the BBC Introducing… stage at Rhythms of the world”.
The Vinyl Junkies set to record
